Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has defended Charlene Ruto’s smokie hustle story.

Charlene was under fire for claiming she sold smokie while in Daystar University, “Charlene Ruto has her story. I don’t trust her dad but I trust that she has her unique story. I gladly give her benefit of doubt. She is perfectly OK to narrate her story,” said Alai

In a viral video, President William Ruto’s daughter claimed she sold ‘smokies’ to sustain herself, “I was in Daystar University, and smokie kachumbari was the only thing that was selling, I was encouraged to take up the small business,” she said.

Charlene graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Daystar University in 2015. At the time, Ruto was serving as Deputy President of Kenya in their first term with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
