In an exciting development for the ICP community, February promises to be action-packed with a series of events. The focal point of the month is the ongoing Inter-University Hackathon, slated to conclude on March 15, 2024. Launched in January, this hackathon has successfully attracted over 700 talented students from various academic institutions across the East African region.

Currently, the hackathon features participation from developers representing 12 prestigious universities, who are deeply immersed in a competitive arena. Demonstrating their prowess, participants are showcasing a diverse array of innovative projects developed on the Internet Computer (ICP) platform. With a relentless pursuit of creativity, they are leveraging the transformative potential of ICP to conceive groundbreaking solutions, thereby pushing the frontiers of decentralised computing.

The atmosphere is electric as participants bring their best ideas to the table, fuelled by the spirit of competition and innovation. As the hackathon progresses, anticipation mounts for the unveiling of exceptional projects that promise to redefine the landscape of decentralised technologies.

Speaking during the hackathon event, Kushite ICP CEO, Yvonne Kagondu said, “The ongoing competition is not just about engaging developers in a battle of wits; it’s about tackling real-world issues with creativity and technical skill. The enlisted projects currently in development span various domains, showcasing the versatility and potential applications of decentralised computing, with respect to solving existing socio-economic challenges.”

The Hub encourages tech enthusiasts, industry professionals, and the wider public to follow the progress of the ongoing hackathon, leading up to the eagerly anticipated project presentation on March 15th. The event promises to unveil a diverse array of innovative solutions, each addressing real-world challenges in unique and impactful ways.

Beyond the hackathon, Kushite has curated a month-long series of workshops, webinars, and networking events throughout February, emphasising the company’s dedication to fostering innovation, collaboration, and community engagement.
