COURT ISSUES WARRANT OF ARREST AGAINST FORMER LAMU SENATOR ANWAR LOITIPTIP

A warrant of arrest has been issued against former Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip after he failed to appear in court for the hearing of a Sh6 million motor vehicle fraud case against him.

Milimani senior principal magistrate Wandia Nyamu issued the warrant upon application by the prosecution. “The application by the prosecution is hereby allowed. Police to execute the warrant and return it on April 18, 2024, duly acted upon,” said Nyamu.

Loitiptip was arraigned on November 16, 2023, where he denied three counts filed against him by the prosecution. In the initial charge, Anwar was accused of fabricating a motor vehicle registration certificate on August 3, 2022, without proper authorisation, claiming it to be a legitimate certificate issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Additionally, he faced another accusation of deceitfully presenting to Samson Malonza a counterfeit motor vehicle certificate for registration number KDA 005C. The court was informed that Loitiptip falsely persuaded Samson Malonza into believing he could sell him a Toyota Land Cruiser V8, obtaining a total of Sh6 million from him. These alleged actions occurred on August 3, 2022, in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

He denied the charges before magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.
