Former KTN News anchor Ken Mijungu has revealed that Standard Media Group owes him more than Sh4 million in unpaid dues since his departure from the company in February 2025.

In an interview, Mijungu disclosed that he has not pursued the matter formally since leaving the Mombasa Road-based station, but his calculations place the outstanding amount at over Sh4 million. “Since I left Standard I have not made a phone call to ask them for my money. Which is a lot, which is over 4 million according to my calculation,” Mijungu stated.

The veteran journalist further alleged that he is not alone in this predicament, “I am not the only one, I know of a guy who is owed close to Sh11 million. Standard owes a lot of people. Staff alone over 400 million. I understand their struggles because I was at the management level,” he added .

The former anchor also addressed the complex web of debt involving the government, acknowledging President William Ruto’s recent remarks on the matter. “When I saw the president tweet it is true that Standard owes us money. It is also truth that government owes Standard money,” Mijungu said .

In a surprising revelation about his personal finances, Mijungu noted that despite his high-profile career, his earnings have remained modest. “The last time I earned Sh300,000 was in 2013 at CCTV Africa,” he disclosed.
