Tanasha Donna Denies Refusing to Pay KSh 815,000 BBL Bill, Shares Receipts as Proof

Singer Tanasha Donna has finally addressed the controversy surrounding her 2021/2022 Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure at Nairobi cosmetic clinic Body by Design, denying allegations that she underwent surgery and refused to settle her bill.

In a detailed statement shared on her social media platforms, Tanasha explained that she remained silent for years due to contractual obligations with Samsung, which prevented her from publicly discussing the matter at the time. However, after the narrative was recently resurfaced by someone she has never met, she decided it was time to tell her side of the story . “There is something I have remained silent about for YEARS, and I think it is finally time to address it properly,” she wrote.

“The reason I did not publicly address everything at the time was because I had contractual obligations with Samsung, and I was specifically asked not to address the situation publicly. So I stayed quiet. Years passed, the story died down, and honestly, I had no desire to resurrect something that I had already moved on from.“

She added: “I will not allow an old story that I was contractually unable to address at the time to continue being repeated as though silence meant guilt. So today, I am finally going to tell my side of the story and this time, I am bringing the receipts.” 

Contrary to the narrative that has circulated for years, Tanasha clarified that the situation was never about her walking away from a bill. She explained that Body by Design approached her about a collaboration, not the other way around.

Under the agreement, she would document her BBL experience through an episode of her YouTube web series, sharing the full journey from decision-making to recovery, rather than simply posting a photo encouraging young women to undergo surgery without understanding the realities involved. “The Body by Design situation was NOT initially a situation where I went to the clinic, had surgery and refused to pay. Quite the opposite. Body by Design approached ME about a collaboration,” she stated.

She explained that the agreement involved filming a long-form episode once she had sufficiently recovered. However, the recovery period for a BBL took approximately 6–8 weeks, during which she was unable to sit comfortably for extended periods. “I was literally filming while on my knees because I couldn’t sit normally,” she recounted.

After reviewing the footage, her team decided that she had not recovered sufficiently and did not want to publish content showing what she described as the “ugly” side of recovery. She maintained that this decision was based entirely on her physical condition and was never about refusing to fulfil the collaboration .

Adding to the complexity, Tanasha was simultaneously fulfilling a six-month contract with Samsung, which required her participation in a photo shoot. She described the physical challenges she faced during that period: “I literally had to stand to do my own makeup because I couldn’t comfortably sit. I was moving around with a chair; I had to put on a wig, and then participate in the shoot.”

The Samsung photograph went viral, sparking speculation about where she had undergone the procedure, with rumours suggesting she had travelled to Turkey. This, she said, made the situation with Body by Design increasingly uncomfortable.

When the collaboration broke down, Tanasha agreed to simply pay for the procedure. However, a financial dispute arose when she received an invoice for KSh 815,000 an increase of KSh 180,000 from the initial estimate of KSh 635,000. “Body by Design had consistently advertised its BBL procedure at approximately KSh 650,000 across its website, Instagram and other platforms, which was broadly in line with the initial estimate I had received. So I was asking: Why am I suddenly being charged an additional KSh 180,000?”

Tanasha disclosed that despite disputing the additional amount, she ultimately paid the full KSh 635,000 demanded after tense negotiations involving the clinic’s lawyer. “There was a LOT of back and forth over the additional KSh180,000. Things became so tense that eventually, we blocked each other. The clinic then brought in a private lawyer to deal with the matter,” she explained.

“The lawyer basically told me: ‘Tanasha, look, you don’t want to ruin your name over a mere KSh 180,000.‘” An instalment arrangement was agreed upon, and Tanasha honoured it in three payments. “Despite disputing the additional amount, I ultimately paid the full amount that was being demanded. I wanted the matter resolved. I didn’t want an ongoing dispute over KSh 180,000, and I wanted to move on.“

Tanasha has now announced plans to take legal action against those she accuses of spreading false information about her.
