‘First Responders Stole My Hat’ Dennis Ombachi Survives Grisly Road Accident

Former Kenya Sevens rugby player and celebrated TikTok chef Dennis Ombachi has revealed that he survived a harrowing road accident that left his vehicle overturned, sharing the account of the ordeal.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Ombachi recounted the frightening experience joking that the incident nearly sent him to the afterlife in January and that first responders robbed him while he was still trapped upside down in his seatbelt.

Ombachi described the accident mocking the performance of his hybrid vehicle. “Makanika lied that a hybrid has the performance specs of the Urus but built for African roads,” he wrote. “Nlikua naskia nikama niko ndani ya washing machine, also people finding you in an upside down position as a man helpless like you’re waiting for some BDSM action has to be the worst way to go out.“

He added: “Karibu inipeleke sayun January. Alafu hao 1st responders waliniibia kofia kama bado niko upside down in my seatbelt. Mkiona tailor made Kangemi ni yangu.“

The former rugby international, who represented Kenya at the 2016 Rio Olympics and played in two Rugby World Cups, shared a series of photographs documenting the aftermath of the crash.

The images showed the overturned vehicle with its undercarriage exposed, its bodywork badly battered, and bystanders gathered around the scene. A police officer was also pictured, and a breakdown vehicle could be seen preparing to recover the wreckage .
