‘Not My Child’ Reverend Felix Kavoi Addresses Claims Linking Daughter to Riara Bullying Incident

Reverend Felix Kavoi has issued a clarification after claims circulated online linking his daughter to the viral Riara University bullying incident. On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Kenyans gathered at his Redeemed Gospel Church seeking justice for the young woman who was bullied.

The gathering followed online claims that one of the women connected to the incident was the daughter of the senior reverend of Redeemed Gospel Church Buruburu. The allegations drew public attention to both the church and Reverend Kavoi. “I don’t have a daughter at Riara University, my daughters are grown up and are working. They are known by their names,” Reverend stated.

In a statement shared by Reverend Kavoi, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua also clarified that the woman linked to the bullying incident is not the daughter of the senior reverend of the Church. Mutua said he personally knows the senior reverend and has maintained close ties with the church. He urged Kenyans to refrain from spreading unverified information that could unfairly harm the reputations of individuals and institutions.

He described the claims circulating on some blogs as false and misleading, emphasising the need for fairness and responsibility as the matter continues to draw public attention.

Mutua also condemned the reported bullying incident, “Bullying is wrong, but we must not respond to it by bullying or harming others. The Church should be a place of love, grace, correction, and restoration, a sanctuary where even the vilest sinner can find refuge, receive guidance in love, and be given an opportunity to change.”

He expressed sympathy for the victim and urged Kenyans to allow the relevant institutions to pursue accountability without amplifying unverified claims. “We thank God that the service proceeded without interruption and that even the Gen Z demonstrators outside the church remained peaceful, causing no harm or property damage.”
