DJ Mo Pleads Guilty, Fined KSh 5,000 for Driving Uninsured Jaguar
Gospel DJ Samuel Muraya, popularly known as DJ Mo, has been fined KSh 5,000 after pleading guilty to driving an uninsured Jaguar along Thika Road and disobeying police directives.
According to the charge sheet presented at the Milimani Traffic Court, the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at around 8:55 a.m. along Thika Road at the Roasters area. Muraya was driving a Jaguar with registration number KCH.
He faced three counts. In the first count, he was accused of driving a motor vehicle on a public road without third-party insurance, contrary to the Insurance (Motor Vehicle Third Party Risks) Act. The second count was failing to display a valid insurance certificate.
The third charge was disobeying verbal directives given by a police officer in uniform, contrary to the Traffic Act. The particulars stated that Muraya failed to obey instructions to drive the vehicle to the police station and instead drove toward Thika Road after being directed to do so by CPL Chelimo.
The court heard that the arrest caused Muraya to miss his scheduled flight to the United States. Addressing the court, the musician explained that he had forgotten to renew his vehicle’s insurance because he was rushing to pick up his sick child from school.
The charge sheet lists CPL Chelimo and PC Cheruiyot as witnesses. Following his guilty plea, he was fined KSh 5,000.
