By  |

Esther Arunga’s husband Quincy Timberlake has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his three-year-old son, Sinclair Timberlake.

Timberlake, 43, was charged with murder three months after his son Sinclair died in their Kallangur home, north of Brisbane, on June 18, 2014. Quincy was expected to stand trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court this week but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday. The Crown accepted the guilty plea and withdrew the murder charge.

Timberlake had initially told police his son had fallen down the stairs and was not breathing when emergency services were called to the house in 2014.

Arunga, later told police her husband had punched the young boy in the stomach and also threw him against a wall.

Crown prosecutor Caitlin Penfold accepted the guilty plea to manslaughter in Brisbane Supreme Court on Tuesday. Sentencing date set down for September 29 before Justice Paul Freeburn.
