MURUGI MUNYI FIRES BACK AT CRITICS OVER HER 2022 PRESIDENTIAL CHOICE

Digital creator Murugi Munyi has called out critics who continually remind her of her 2022 presidential vote whenever she comments on government affairs across her social media platforms.

In a statement, Munyi expressed frustration over what she describes as a tiresome narrative weaponised against her by online trolls. She revealed that she cannot share any opinion on the current administration without being met with criticism.

Do you know a narrative I am so sick and tired of hearing? Because every single time I say anything about the government, there will be someone in my DM saying, ‘Oh, but you voted for them,’” she expressed. Her response was unfiltered, “First of all, shut up. That is not the way the world works.”

The digital creator reminded her critics that she was far from alone in her 2022 voting decision, pointing to the reality of democratic elections. “Obviously at that time, we were all more than half the country, because it’s not just me who voted for him. A lot of us voted for him, and that is how he ended up winning. So more than half of us voted for him.”

She compared political choices to personal relationships, specifically, the decision to marry someone who later reveals themselves to be unsuitable. “You also chose to marry your ex, your ex husband, your ex boyfriend. You got to them at the time, and at the time you were picking them, you did not think they would turn out to be a narcissistic, abusive deadbeat, did you? But guess what? They ended up being that.

She continued, “And now you’re no longer together, but now it’s not like now we’re going to come around, start saying, ‘Oh, but you chose him, who decided to have a baby with him.’”

According to Munyi, she made the best choice with the information available at the time. “We all make the best decision that we can with the information we had at the time, now you can be like, ‘That was the bad decision.’ Grow up. Get over it, guys. I did vote for them. I’m gonna make a better decision next time.”
