Wicknell Chivayo Celebrates Late Oliver Mtukudzi’s 74th Birthday With KSh9.6m Gift to Family

As Zimbabwe remembers the legendary musician Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi on what would have been his 74th birthday, Wicknell Chivayo has announced a US$74,000 (KSh 9,583,000) tribute, symbolically giving US$1,000 (KSh 129,500) for every year Mtukudzi would have celebrated.

According to the tribute shared by Chivayo, Selma, Sandra and Shamiso will each receive US$15,000 (KSh 1,942,500), while Mama Daisy will receive US$29,000 (KSh 3,755,500), bringing the total to exactly US$74,000 (KSh 9,583,000).

Although the singer passed away in 2019, his music and cultural influence continue to live on. His voice became part of Zimbabwe’s story, with songs that crossed generations and reached audiences far beyond the country’s borders.
