Tiktoker The Kenyan American Home Hospitalised for 5 Days in ICU 

Owen Githanga, the Kenyan content creator behind the popular platform The Kenyan American Home, has revealed that he has spent six days in hospital, five of them in the intensive care unit.

In a post shared on his TikTok page, Githanga shared, “Day 6 of being hospitalised (5 in the ICU). Thank you for all your prayers and love. We forge ahead, wait for His healing,” he wrote . The update, accompanied by photos from his hospital bed, offered his followers their first real glimpse into the severity of his condition, which had not been previously disclosed.

In a follow-up message, Githanga detailed the extent of the medical care he has undergone, describing the ordeal as unlike anything he had experienced before.

“My life has been in drips. I have never been poked like that in my life. They have taken a lot of blood samples,” he said.

He revealed that he underwent an MRI, which doctors ordered to ensure no other organs had been damaged. According to him, his pancreas was inflamed, his kidney was injured, and his liver was partly affected, conditions that medical teams have been treating. He noted that there are still many things that need to be checked.

He opened up about the financial strain his hospitalisation has placed on his family. He is the primary breadwinner for his household of four children and also supports his mother. “I work on the weekends, and I have not been able to work,” he said. “I don’t want to stress about money when I need to get well.“

As of his most recent update, Githanga remained in hospital and was continuing to recover .
