AFRICAN ARTISTES BURNA BOY AND SHA SHA WIN BET AWARDS

BET Awards marked its 20th anniversary on Sunday and the network also celebrated its 40th year on TV.

Hosted by actress Amanda Seales the award show recognizes top Black talent in music, sports and film among other categories and this year the ceremony was virtual.

Roddy Ricch took home the award for Album of the Year, Megan Thee Stallion was crowned Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and Michael B Jordan was honoured with the Best Actor.

African artistes were not left out, Nigerian star Burna Boy scooped the Best International Act, “In order for black lives to matter, Africa has to matter! Thank you @BET and thanks sis @naomi 🖤🚀 “ said Burna.

Zimbabwe’s Sha Sha won Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act, “I’m out of words, did not see this coming at all. Honestly, I’m just grateful, thankful, excited, numb just a whole lot of emotions, the mere fact that I’m nominated man! This is amazing! I need you all more than ever to bring this home,” she posted.
