JOHN-ALLAN NAMU AND WIFE CELEBRATE 10TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Award-winning investigative journalist John-Allan Namu and his wife Sheena Makena are celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary.

Namu took to Instagram and shared heartfelt post and never-before-seen photos from their wedding day, “How it started//How it is going. Still celebrating, ten years and one month to the day, four wonderful children and thousands of experiences with you @smakngondi . Wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In an interview with Only Love the couple opened up about their relationship, “We’ve actually been in each other’s lives for a very long time, our parents were family friends and Makena is slightly older than me, so I knew who she was but I was just not in her universe.

We reconnected when I was going to University her uncle had a home close to where I went to university so after enrollment I passed by to say hi. There was this nice smell of pancakes from the kitchen and after a while, a nice chick with nice kafigure chomokad out of the kitchen and this was the first time I noticed her,” said Namu.

When he started his internship at KTN, Sheena was already working there as an editor, “When we started to work together at KTN, I was an intern I was scared and she was a scary editor like anybody who remembers, Makena was like if you don’t have your time codes get out.

When we were in the edit suite we had a lot of storos and often a lot of my stories would run late because we were talking sort of things. ,” he added.

Though his wife is three years older, she said that has never been a factor, “The age difference is not something that is really obvious to us, we only remember it when we are feeling forms and stuff like that. We think the same, maybe I didn’t develop quickly as girls should,” says Sheena.

“We started to get together; we developed a thing beyond friendship. I was in a relationship that was long distance and not working as well as I would have wanted to, no excuses for me not manning up and telling my girlfriend that there is someone else who’s caught my interest, I think we should wind things up.

When things reached an inflection point it just became apparent to me that I was super attracted to Makena and we always laughed together. We always had a good time together and I missed that within my relationship.

Makena was always supportive to me, of my work never she has always had that kind of tough love approach in any of her relationships, so whenever I would do something stupid or foolish she would call me out and to be honest many times she was the one, who would tell me you are in a relationship what are you doing and should keep on asking me those questions,” added Namu.

When Makena got pregnant Namu broke up with his girlfriend and the couple tied the knot in September of 2010 and went to Seychelles for their honeymoon.

Sheena and Namu have since been blessed with four children.
