TEACHER WANJIKU TALKS ABOUT HER LIFE AS A HAWKER AND SELLING UJI AND GITHERI KWA MJENGO

By  |

Comedian Teacher Wanjiku shared her life struggles before she became famous.

The comedian says she tried her hand in many things including hawking clothes from Gikomba in bars and pubs,  to sale clothes in Gikomba, “Before I got in theatre, I was in Gikomba, I used to move around bars selling curtains but it didn’t work, someone advised me to start selling clothes then I moved to selling kids shoes.

One day I realised I was cut out for the business and I stopped selling clothes.”

After she quit selling clothes, she then decided to supply food on construction sites, “I started looking for tenders on construction sites to sell githeri and porridge.

I got three construction sites to supply food mainly porridge, chapati and githeri. But there was a problem with math, it was not balancing, some owed me up to three months debt.

I stopped that business and decided to move on.”
