KFCB AND DCI OFFICERS ARREST ERIC OMONDI FOR PRODUCING AND DISTRIBUTING WIFE MATERIAL

Popular comedian Eric Omondi was arrested on March 11 in the afternoon by the Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers for producing and distributing his online show Wife Material which is currently in production.

In a statement released by KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua, he said, “The Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) compliance officers in conjunction with Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have this afternoon arrested one Eric Omondi for violating the provision of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya by producing and distributing unauthorised film content dubbed Wife Material.

The board will take all possible legal means to curb the production and exhibition of unauthorized films on any platform meant for public exhibition. Protection of children from exposure to harmful content remains KFCB’s core mandate.

Any artist producing content for public consumption in Kenya must ensure that they comply with the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.”
