AFRO-BENGA ARTISTE AWICKO ADMITS HE CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE DURING LAST YEAR’S COVID-19 PANDEMIC

By  |

Afro-benga artiste Awicko currently making waves with his single Ohala featuring Mr Seed has talked about his journey as an upcoming musician. The father of two said he almost committed suicide during last year’s coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking about his music, he said, “Ohala song is based on a true story, I wrote it at a time when I wanted to commit suicide. The pandemic hit me hard, I became depressed. I had not paid rent for five months, my power and water were disconnected. But I looked at my two kids and decided not to do it, so I wrote a song about my situation.

Before being a musician, I was a stylist and I used to hang out with celebrities but when coronavirus hit Kenya, I was so broke, I borrowed money from my friend’s but they didn’t believe I was broke.”
