CASTING DIRECTOR GERALD LANGIRI SPEAKS ON MISTAKES ACTORS MAKE WHEN AUDITIONING

By  |

Celebrated Kenyan actor Gerald Langiri has opened up on his proposal to his wife, Lynne Jumba during the premiere of House of Lungula movie. Speaking in a sit-down interview, the actor detailed how the proposal was planned and his wife’s reaction afterwards.  Langiri also stated that he knew Jumba would accept his proposal as they had dated for a while.

I knew she would say yes because we had dated for a long while, I think it was about six years into our relationship. The whole idea was after the movie ends the words pop up on the screen after the credits because on premieres people don’t leave immediately. She didn’t know about it so it was a total surprise for her she was just crying all over the place,” he said.

As a casting director, he also spoke on mistakes most actors make giving directors a hard time. “The number one mistake you would ever make is not having your lines because it makes it hard for me to direct if you don’t have your lines and it happens a lot. I know there is nervousness I understand that, I know there is panic but please have your lines,” said Langiri.

Langiri also disclosed that most actors don’t understand the roles they auditioning, “Number two is not understanding your character and auditioning for a role that you know it doesn’t fit you,” he said. “As an act or you need to know how you look, how you speak, how you walk, understanding your embodiment as an actor and being true to yourself by understanding that there are things that I can do and things that I cannot do.”
