Samsung Care+ Expands Accidental Damage Protection to Galaxy Users in East Africa
Samsung is broadening access to Care+, a service plan designed to help owners of eligible Galaxy smartphones handle the cost of accidental damage most commonly cracked screens through the company’s authorised service network at a reduced repair fee.
Care+ operates separately from, and alongside, Samsung’s standard 24-month warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects at no cost for two years from the date of purchase. Care+ addresses accidental damage resulting from everyday use, is valid for 12 months from device activation, and requires registration within 30 days. It permits one qualifying screen repair per plan, performed with genuine Samsung parts by trained technicians.
The two benefits serve different purposes. The warranty resolves defects, while Care+ offers customers a dependable, discounted option for fixing accidental damage that a standard warranty would not cover.
Repair fees by market and device series:
Country Z Series S Series A Series (A32–A73) A Series (A14–A27) Kenya KES 15,693 KES 7,847 KES 3,923 KES 3,139 Tanzania TZS 320,689 TZS 160,344 TZS 80,172 TZS 64,138 Ethiopia ETB 19,563 ETB 9,782 ETB 4,891 ETB 3,913 Uganda UGX 447,262 UGX 223,631 UGX 111,815 UGX 89,452
For comparison, an out-of-warranty screen replacement on an A- or S-series device in Kenya can cost between KSh 15,000 and KSh 30,000 or more on the open market, making the subsidised fee a substantial saving for customers who register on time.
Care+ is available only on select genuine Samsung smartphones sold with a 24-month warranty and does not apply to grey-import devices. Newly launched Fold and Flip models are not yet covered locally, as they are not officially ranged in these markets with an applicable 24-month warranty.
