CASTING DIRECTOR ISAYA EVANS ON THE WORST ROLE HE PLAYED

By  |

Celebrated actor and casting director Isaya Evans talked to Buzz Central about the worst role he has ever played.

Speaking in an interview, Evans said he performed so badly that his role was recast, “The worst role I ever played was because of lack of knowledge and preparation of how TV works. I was called for a role in Lies that Bind, the guy who was casted for the role was not available so I was told to come play the role.

I was given a mubaba role but I was soo young, I didn’t look the part. I was used to working in theatre so much and I didn’t know TV was different. I could not bring out the role the way it was supposed to be. The director was too tired, we shot it, it went on TV and later the character was killed. They wrote a new script and someone else was casted for the role.”

On the biggest transformation he had to do for a role, Isaya said, “I was casted for a Ugandan commercial but on the day of the shoot, the client did not like my beard, apparently I looked like a thug. The director Tosh Gitonga came and asked me to shave it. At first I didn’t want to because I had been growing it for 10 years. But I shaved and it came out lovely, I even kept the style for six months.”
