By  |

Actor Derrick Njuguna Kinyanjui has been selected to represent Kenya in World Monologue Games, a global event often referred to as the Olympics for Actors.

The international event will feature performers from 45 countries. The County 49 actor submitted an entry to World Monologue Games where thousands of international performers vie for a spot in six different categories.

The 19 year old actor will compete in the event’s regional finals, “I’m super excited to be competing in World Monologue Games this year. This has me representing Kenya alongside scores of incredible performers from around the world. I can’t wait for my performance,” he told Buzz Central.

Kinyanjui has been selected with a monologue about the downsides of constantly craving attention . “This is such a great piece to perform. It not only brings the toxicity that comes with being a narcissist but also how the people around feel about it.” The Regional Finals will be livestreamed from September 2022 onwards, with the winners of six different categories competing for cash prizes and a position on the podium during the prestigious Global Finals to be held on late November.

World Monologue Games was set up in 2020 by Australian producer Pete Malicki, who refused to let global lockdowns deprive his fellow creatives opportunities to perform. Malicki says, “Our third season is shaping up to knock the previous two out of the park. Many judges commented that the standard of submissions was much higher than in the past. I’m looking forward to seeing what the best actors from scores of countries can bring to the table with this year’s Games.”
