NADIA MUKAMI SPEAKS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ARTISTES OWNING THEIR MUSIC RIGHTS

Musician Nadia Mukami has called on all African musicians to be more vigilant when it comes to owning music rights in a fast changing music business.

According to her, it is important for artistes to be administrators of their music, “Owning masters to your music mostly having the administrative rights is very important in this 2022 where the music business has shifted!” Urging artistes contributed to include split sheets in their agreement because it can be beneficial to them in future, “Because in 10 years you can sell a % of your music rights so in all you do tembea na split sheet if you have played any role in a song please!”

Adding that she will not be collaborating with another musician if there is no split sheet involved, “No split sheet! No collabo? No release! (My new mantra!)”
