Mumias East MP, Peter Salasya, has issued a public apology to his former communications team member, Harriet Njenga, following her resignation announcement and an inappropriate remark made during a live radio interview.

In a detailed statement addressed to Njenga, Salasya expressed surprise at her resignation post on social media and acknowledged her contribution to his media team over the past three years. “Over the past 3 years, you have been an integral part of my media team, and your contribution has been exceptional, particularly within the demanding political environment in which we operate,” Salasya wrote.

The MP praised Njenga’s role in building and growing Salasya TV and the Salasya brand across multiple digital platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X. He said her collaboration with other team members, including Oliver Ouma Barasa, Peter Sydney and Kevin Serveen, in enhancing his public visibility.

Salasya also addressed an incident involving Tony Mwirigi during a live radio interview, where a question regarding an alleged personal relationship between the MP and Njenga was raised.

The question regarding our alleged personal relationship was inappropriate and should not have been raised, especially when there were more important matters for public discussion,” Salasya stated. “While I chose not to escalate the situation out of respect for Tony Mwirigi and my understanding of the nature of live media engagements, I recognise that the incident may have caused you discomfort. Please accept my sincere apology.”

Salasya invited Njenga to report to the office on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m., where a revised employment contract with a salary increment and improved allowances would be presented.

Over the past three years, we have worked tirelessly together, travelling across the country and building our communication and media presence. Your contribution has been instrumental to this journey, and we highly value your expertise and commitment,” he added. “It is for this reason that we wish to continue working with you and strengthening our professional relationship.”

The MP concluded his statement by thanking Njenga for her outstanding service, dedication, and loyalty, expressing his hope for continued collaboration and shared success.
