Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia has shared her emotional journey of grief one month after the passing of her father, Pastor Mwangi Macharia

In a social media post, the actress reflected on the pain of loss, persevering through the difficult moments. “It’s been a month of confusion, numbness, and crying… Mondays have not been the same since you left to be with the One you loved the most. They say grief is love turned into pain. Your body left, but your love never left.”

She also opened up on how her father’s absence on her family has impacted her daughter, “The other day, Zendaya wanted her Grandpa, and I was numb because I also want you, Daddy… I pray and hope it gets easier day by day. I know you wouldn’t want me to give up, so I will keep going even if I have to crawl out of bed because that’s what you taught me: to never give up.

Pastor Mwangi was laid to rest on June 17, 2025, in Githunguri, in a ceremony attended by close family, friends, and colleagues from Kenya’s entertainment industry. Among the mourners was content creator Milly Chebby, who offered words of comfort to Matubia and her family.

Chebby shared on social media, “It is well, @jmatubia, it is well, Sissy 💜💜💜💜. Yesterday at Jackie’s dad’s funeral in Githunguri… May the love Dad left behind be your comfort and strength. Sending you, Mum, and siblings peace and grace during this time. Holding you all close in thought and prayer as you lead the family 🫂🫂🫂🫂.”
