KOREAN RESEARCHERS TO STUDY KENYAN YOUTH

The State Department for Youth Affairs & Creative Economy has announced a collaborative research initiative with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Korea aimed at better understanding Kenyan youth.

The project, spearheaded by Prof. Jeon Only the director, Africa Human Resource Development Centre and Prof. Bae Yuh Jin the director, Centre for African Culture and History, will analyse social, psychological, economic, and political aspects of youth challenges

The Professors noted that the youth demographic is a challenge not only in Kenya but across the world and the need to understand them is critical so as to inform appropriate policy interventions for their needs . The University of Hankuk is among the four Universities in Korea that have applied for research grants to the Korean government to conduct research on the Youth Development question in Africa.

The deliberations took place in the presence of senior officials of the State Department led by Director of Administration Kennedy Kimuyu and Director of Youth Social Development Emily Maina.
