MUSICIAN KUSH TRACEY SPEAKS ON SKIN BLEACHING WHILE NAVIGATING IDENTITY CRISIS
Musician and media personality Kush Tracey has revealed that she previously bleached her skin trying to become someone society would accept more easily.
In a statement shared with her followers, the musician described the experience as a painful journey that went beyond physical appearance. “I used to bleach my skin trying to become someone I thought the world would accept more easily,” she wrote.
“What started as beauty slowly revealed deeper battles with identity, conditioning, comparison, and a distorted perception of self-worth.“

She recently had the opportunity to share her journey on the BBC Africa podcast, where she spoke not only about skin bleaching but also about healing, unlearning, faith, and rediscovering who she says God says she is.
“Transformation begins with the renewal of the mind🤯the moment you stop viewing yourself through society’s distortions and start seeing yourself through the lenses of truth✝️then everything changes🌱”
According to Kush Tracey, healing began when her identity stopped being rooted in society’s standards and started being rooted in her Christian faith.
She credited faith with helping her confront the insecurity behind her transformation, embrace her natural self without shame, “My melanin stopped being something to fight and became something to honour,” she said.
Adding, “You do not have to alter yourself to deserve love, value or visibility. God created you perfectly in His own image.”
