Musician Gilad Millo Undergoes Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Musician Gilad Millo is turning pain into purpose after a serious shoulder injury forced him into emergency surgery.

The artist was preparing to travel for his nephew’s wedding when he broke his shoulder so severely that doctors had to perform a complete joint replacement. What followed was an experience that would reshape his outlook.

“I woke up from the operation, still loaded with painkillers, I got to watch Messi score a hat-trick ⚽️ while my daughter, who has just been accepted to study nursing, fed me yogurt and took care of me ❤️” Millo reflected.

A conversation with a young Kenyan friend helped him reframe his thinking. “A wise young Kenyan told me to stop asking “Why did this happen to me?” and instead make a list of everything I’m grateful for.”

He chose to focus on gratitude for his mother, who arranged treatment with a world-class specialist; for his family’s constant presence; for the successful surgery; and for the chance to heal.

Millo managed to dance at his nephew’s wedding and reconnect with his brothers after many years. Now, as he returns to Kenya, he looks forward to releasing new music, tending to his garlic harvest, and living life with renewed purpose. “I intend to continue living to the fullest every chance I get,” he concluded.
