President William Ruto has nominated Mary Nanjala Kilobi as a member of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), pending ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit as stipulated under the Intergovernmental Relations Act.

Kilobi, who is married to Francis Atwoli, Secretary-General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), is among seven individuals selected for the committee. The body is mandated to enhance collaboration and coordination between Kenya’s national and county governments.

The other nominees include Abdi Mude Ibrahim (Wajir), Prof. Jacqueline M. Oduol (Kisumu), Martha K. Cheruto (Elgeyo Marakwet), Dr Eric K. Gakure (Kiambu), Dr Joseph K. Mungai (Nyeri), and Anne Wang’ombe (Kirinyaga).

If confirmed, Kilobi will be responsible for delivering technical and administrative support to both the National and County Government Coordinating Summit and the Council of Governors.

Her duties will include facilitating the smooth transfer of constitutional functions and resources from the national government to county administrations. She will also assist in resolving intergovernmental disputes through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
