KENYAN CELEBRITIES WHO SPENT MILLIONS ON PLASTIC SURGERY

By  |

Admitting to having plastic surgery is still a taboo in Kenya, whether it’s just botox or a more severe cosmetic procedure. But times are changing and a handful of brave celebrities are opening up about their experiences.

Vera Sidika’s Boob job

Socialite and businesswoman Vera Sidika had cosmetic surgery to increase her breast size in Beverly Hills, “I wasn’t proportional. I used to be thick but not proportional, so I just decided to be proportional and added my boobs. On the upside, I don’t have to wear bras anymore. It cost me Sh2 million at Beverly Hills. They are actually good.

I have had boob surgery before, years ago in Beverly Hills, California. I paid a lot for the procedure. Yes, it’s more expensive but worth it because you get qualified and certified surgeons with over 20 years’ experience.

Still, I am not proud of that decision anymore. Today, I regret the boob job. In fact, I even want to get rid of them, all of you ladies rushing to Miami for surgery should learn to love yourselves. If you must, Miami is not the place. Hustle harder and go to Beverly Hills,” she said.

Big Ted’s Gastric bypass

Former State House Director of Brand Strategy and event Big Ted underwent a gastric bypass in a hospital in India. “My weight gain was slowly becoming a nightmare. I tried working out but to no avail. I must have tried every diet there is around. The kilos kept piling up and my suits were a humongous size 68! Obesity comes with many challenges.

I was fortunate since I did not experience any health challenges due to obesity. I was fortunate to meet Dr Mohit Bhandari through a mutual friend while on a visit to Kenya. The renowned doctor who has performed over 7,000 bariatric surgeries and over 500 robotic surgeries suggested that he would help me lose weight.

For about Sh700, 000, which included airfare, accommodation and the gastric bypass, I had finally won the weight loss battle. Within four days I had lost five kilos. For the first month after the procedure, I was not supposed to take any solids. I only ate soup. In the second month, I graduated to purees while by the third month, I was on semi-solid foods.”

Huddah Monroe’s Breast augmentation

Beautyprenuer Huddah Monroe, went for a cosmetic surgery to enhance her boobs, but the procedure was botched as she admitted on social media. “Got complications from a previous cosmetic surgery I had and I am pleased with my doctors who have done incredible job on me. I can’t be more thankful!

I could’ve died, but I’m well now. I don’t regret doing my surgery. I did not have any self-esteem issues; I just wanted my dress to look good. It was expensive, I had to pay Sh1 million.”

Risper Faith’s Liposuction

Socialite and social media influencer Risper Faith went under the knife to restore hourglass figure after gaining weight during her pregnancy, “When my husband and I heard that we could get permanent results here, we were so excited. At the cost of Sh450,000, we hoped for the best results and now see, soon my real curves will be showing. The truth is that I was scared of the procedure, but I gathered my courage so then I could go through it and get the required results.

Thanks to @bodybydesignkenya was able to do a liposuction surgery successfully! 8 litres of fat was removed from my stomach and lower back through surgery called liposuction, at this point my life has completely changed no more eating unhealthy. I wanted to talk about it, I wanted to scream about it, I wanted to yell. I wanted to shout about it.

This is how I felt while I struggled with belly fat for almost two years until I was introduced to @bodybydesignkenya thanks to then I went through a successful procedure that restored my body, and my confidence!”

Fashionable Step Mum Gastric bypass

Catherine Njeri aka Fashionable Step Mum revealed the secret to her major weight loss. She took to social media to reveal that she gained excess weight when she got an implant to prevent her from getting pregnant once she got married to her husband. She was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and scheduled for surgery to have the hernia removed in India and while at it requested to have surgery to reduce the size of her stomach.

The doctor advised me to do a mini gastric bypass. So, they would do this together, he would fix the hernia and also do the gastric bypass. The two were successful and after the surgery I stayed in India for a while and you only eat liquids and jellies.

By the time I came home, I had lost nine kilos and that gave me the psyche to continue with my weight loss journey I know most of you will say it was a shortcut well to each their own, for me it was something I did to fast-track my weight loss journey.”

Rachel Marete’s Liposuction sculpture and Breast implants

Former Miss Universe Kenya and media personality Rachel Marete Mbuki, revealed in a series of posts on her Instagram page that in 2015 she took hormonal depo provera, birth control that made her gain a lot of weight. In an interview with the Standard, she said, “Mind you, I had all my weight gain after my plastic surgeries so people should know that it’s not a weight loss solution but just a way to enhance your figure.

5 years earlier I had liposuction sculpture to suck out all fat from my waist area and make my body look more voluptuous. I also had breast implants done. I ended up gaining the weight years after the surgery and had to work very hard to lose it the natural way.

I actually need to have my breasts redone because the weight gain and loss changed them so I want them how they were before. I always had an hourglass figure but it’s now more extreme and I love it.”
