Artisans de Genève Unveils Eliud Kipchoge’s Custom Rolex Daytona

Independent artisan workshop Artisans de Genève has revealed “Feather,” a unique private commission crafted for legendary Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge.

Based on the athlete’s personal Rolex Daytona, the project transforms a classic chronograph into a symbol of endurance and boundary-pushing performance, inspired by Kipchoge’s historic sub-two-hour marathon feat and his philosophy that “No human is limited.”

The guiding design brief was extreme weight reduction, resulting in a timepiece that weighs a mere 57 grams. This was achieved through a newly fabricated Titalum® case, an alloy of titanium and aluminum paired with the original black rubber Oysterflex strap and brushed aluminum attachments.

Visually, the watch pays homage to Kenya. A red, green and white palette evokes the landscapes of Kaptagat, Kipchoge’s training grounds. Transparency is a key theme: a clear sapphire dial exposes the openworked mechanics, while a sapphire bezel insert allows light to penetrate from the edge. Green Super-LumiNova illuminates the chronograph counters, and rhodium-plated hands feature red accents. Most distinctively, the central chronograph seconds hand is reshaped into a lightning-bolt silhouette, symbolising speed.

Beneath the crystal, the Calibre 4130 movement has been extensively skeletonized and converted from automatic to manual winding, reducing bulk and offering a more deliberate interaction. The movement is sandblasted and hand-decorated in nickel-palladium.

“Feather” is a unique, private commission and not a commercial release. Artisans de Genève operates independently, creating bespoke modifications solely at the request of the watch’s lawful owner. The estimated personalisation service is priced at 56,520 CHF ($68,300 USD).
