SHARON OBARA CROWNED MISS WORLD KENYA 2021
Model Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya 2021 at an event held over the weekend. In a lengthy social media post, Obara said her journey to the top has not been easy, “They say God’s timing is indeed the best! As I pen down this note, I can’t help but get emotional. It has been such a journey!
I want to thank God for his unending favour upon me. The franchise @mrandmissworldkenya for taking a chance on me. My family, they have been supportive from the very first day I decided to venture into modelling. My friends, the best cheering squad and support system I could ever ask for. The supporters I have garnered along the way, thank you for the support and confidence in me,” she wrote in part.
Sharon promised to give her best and touch lives through her beauty with purpose projects. “Your prayers, words of encouragement and support have gotten me here today and I do not take it for granted. I vow to do my best, lead with my heart, continue the miss world legacy and most importantly touch twice as many lives through my beauty with a purpose project,” she added.
In a separate post, the model detailed her rise to the top noting that she made new family and got a lot of experience a long the way. “28/08/2021. A dream came true. It still feels so surreal. Along the way, I got to experience and learn alot of things… I met so many new people and made a new family but above all, I became a better person. I am humbled to have been the one bestowed the honor to represent Kenya. I am still in awe of the support and love that is still coming my way. The journey has just but began,” she wrote.
Obara shared an update, on Monday, August 30, a day after being crowned, saying that she is slowly but steadily adjusting to the new life. “It’s officially day one and I am really trying to get the hang of it. It is a tremendous life shift and I want to fully embrace it all. I appreciate all the love coming my way and I am looking forward to walking this journey with you all by my side,” she wrote.
The new Miss World Kenya also penned a message to her predecessor, Wavinya Maria congratulating her for the excellent job she did during her reign. “Dear Wavinya Maria, just like our predecessors, you have served the crown with all the due diligence. You have managed to impact a lot of lives and mentored many, myself included. You raised our flag high internationally and we could not be more proud of you. The true definition of a queen. As I set off on this journey, I ask for your blessings and guidance. Hold my hand and see me through,” wrote Obara.
Models Chantou Kwamboka and Mary Mwihaki took the second and third runner up positions respectively. Following her win, Obara will represent the country in Puerto Rico in December this year at the global competition.
