DENNIS ITUMBI PAYS EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE TO NJAMBI KOIKAI

Prominent Kenyan digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Njambi Koikai, acknowledging her extraordinary courage and strength during her 21-year battle with thoracic endometriosis. 

Njambi, a media personality, reggae emcee, and tireless advocate for endometriosis awareness, succumbed from endometriosis complications on June 4.

In a candid message, Itumbi reflected on the immense impact Njambi had on his life, stating, “Go well. Thanks for pushing me even when I did not understand what you were fighting for, until I got it, okay not the whole of it, but largely.” 

He recounted her brave spirit despite undergoing over 20 surgeries and enduring intense pain. Itumbi also fondly remembered Njambi’s attempts to introduce him in reggae culture, revealing, “You tried taking me to reggae dance out – you really tried. Hio nayo ilifail. But you made me know Bob Marley and that quote by him, ‘You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.‘”

Njambi’s final days were marked by her relentless efforts to raise awareness about thoracic endometriosis, a rare and debilitating condition affecting many women. Itumbi acknowledged her role as an educator and advocate, saying, “In your last days, you pushed to fight more, to understand the dilemma faced by many girls – Thoracic Endometriosis – you died educating and pushing me. Asante for allowing me into your life.”

Expressing his admiration, Itumbi concluded with a touching farewell, “Safiri salama, Fyah Mumaah! Paul was writing about you, you have indeed fought a good fight, you have finished the race! To your family and friends, I pray for comfort and blessings. Wewe, ulikuwa mtu mzuri na roho safi. A fighter per excellence.”

In a light-hearted note, Itumbi shared a personal revelation about Njambi’s name, “Saa hii ndio najua ulikuwa na jina innocent – ati Mary. On a light note, Ningekuwa na chance ingine moja tu nikuite Mary. Maria and use the different Mary jokes on you.”

Concluding the tribute, he wrote, “Let me end it this way, like it has been written before me, ‘A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch, but on its own wings.’ Njambi, Fly into God’s arms of love and no pain.”
