GOVERNOR SAKAJA ANNOUNCES PLANS TO RENAME A ROAD IN SOUTH C TO HONOUR E-SIR
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced plans to rename a road in South C in honour of the late iconic artist E-Sir, whose contributions significantly shaped Kenya’s music industry.
The declaration was made during Jamhuri Day celebrations, where Sakaja talked on the importance of recognising artists who have played shaped the country’s cultural development. “We will honour our artists by renaming some of the roads. I have spoken with Honorable MP Jalang’o, and our county director has addressed the matter. One of the roads in South C, an estate where E-Sir grew up and began his musical journey, will be named after the great hero E-Sir, whose brother, Habib, performed here today,” Sakaja said.
This initiative aligns with a 2022 online petition led by Nameless, a close friend of E-Sir, which advocated for renaming a South C road after the late musician. The petition garnered over 5,000 signatures.
E-Sir tragically passed away in a road accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway 21 years ago.
