Kenyan businessman and former political aspirant Jared Okode, popularly known as Defao, has broken his silence following the dramatic Marurui demolition of his seven bedroom mansion a moment that shocked many Kenyans online.

While many would have emotionally crumbled under such circumstances, Okode has chosen a different path, describing the incident as a temporary setback rather than the end of his journey. “If that house was the target, I don’t know. They started by demolishing the wall. We could not salvage anything not even the gate. That land is now flat,Okode revealed.

He disclosed that he had invested Sh31 million in constructing the house on a 50-by-100 plot of land. However, ownership disputes complicated matters: “A person claimed they have the land documents, and we also had documents, so it was beyond us.”

Hailing from Oyugis, Okode shared his inspiring hustle story, detailing the struggles he faced while rising to success. He he refuses to let challenges steal his peace, crediting his mindset and resilience for keeping him grounded.

Okode also opened up about his political aspirations, revealing that his dream of becoming a Member of Parliament remains very much alive. He previously vied for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat and disclosed the substantial financial investment he made in that pursuit. “That is a small amount because last time I went to campaign, I wanted to be an MP for Ruaraka, I spent Sh100 million. At the last minute, the ticket was given directly by ODM,” he stated.
