‘No Cartel Money’ Kalonzo Calls on Kenyans to Financially Back his 2027 Presidential Bid

Wiper Party leader and presidential aspirant Kalonzo Musyoka has made a direct appeal to ordinary Kenyans to contribute financially to his 2027 presidential campaign, declaring that his “Komboa Kenya” movement will reject funding from corrupt cartels.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Musyoka framed the campaign as a grassroots, patriotic endeavour built on trust. “Our campaign and the Komboa Kenya movement will not be funded by cartels, because it is a movement by the people and for the people. Every shilling given by an honest Kenyan carries more value than any cheque written in pursuit of favour. This is a campaign built on trust, sacrifice, and a shared belief in a better future for our country. Stand with it. Support it. Own it.”

Speaking to supporters, the former Vice President reinforced the message, emphasising that Komboa Kenya is not a campaign sustained by corruption or shadowy financiers. “Komboa Kenya is not a campaign funded by cartels or sustained by corruption. It is a people’s patriotic movement, and the people must power it. I urge you to contribute what you can. Never for one moment think your candidate is any weaker because of making it open to all of us. But above all, contribute from your heart. Every shilling given by an honest Kenyan carries more value than any cheque written in pursuit of favours.

Musyoka’s appeal mirrors a shift in Kenya’s political landscape, where ordinary citizens are breaking tradition by opening their wallets to support presidential aspirants . Just months earlier, former Chief Justice David Maraga another 2027 presidential hopeful made a similar public appeal for donations, urging Kenyans to fund his campaign to ensure accountability to the people rather than wealthy financiers.
