Bolt Food Enters On-Demand Retail Partnership With Quickmart
Bolt Food has announced its entry into on-demand retail, teaming up with Quickmart Supermarkets in a strategic move that allows customers to receive over 12,000 supermarket products directly at their homes.
The service, rolling out across more than 60 Quickmart outlets, represents a major shift for Bolt Food as it broadens its scope beyond meal deliveries and accelerates its transformation into a multipurpose platform for daily convenience.
The expansion signifies a major step in Bolt Food’s strategy to go beyond restaurant deliveries and capture a share of Kenya’s rapidly growing instant-retail sector. Through the Bolt Food app, users can now purchase everything from fresh produce and wellness essentials to household supplies and drinks, with delivery completed within minutes.

Ali Zaryab, Bolt Food General Manager, Kenya and Ghana said, “This partnership is a step in how we are evolving Bolt Food, from a food delivery service to a platform that supports everyday needs. By collaborating with trusted brands such as Quickmart, we’re making it easier for customers to shop conveniently, and for our partners to reach more households through digital channels. We’re also creating additional earning opportunities for our courier community.”
By tapping into the high-frequency grocery segment, Bolt Food is introducing more everyday use scenarios to its platform, boosting customer convenience while increasing user engagement and repeat visits. For Quickmart, the alliance offers a scalable digital route to reach new shoppers and satisfy the rising demand for convenience-oriented retail experiences.
Betty Wamaitha, Quickmart’s Chief Marketing Officer said, “As Quickmart celebrates 20 years of serving Kenyan households, this partnership with Bolt Food is a powerful step in delivering on our promise of convenience. By enabling customers to access Quickmart’s wide range of quality goods and services through on-demand delivery, we are making everyday shopping easier, faster, and more accessible.
With close to 70 stores nationwide, we look forward to our shoppers enjoying this added convenience, wherever they are. At Quickmart, we remain committed to being always fresh & easy, and this collaboration ensures that our customers experience that promise in even more ways.”
The launch arrives as Kenya’s digital economy experiences rapid growth. According to the recent Bolt-Ipsos Gig Economy Report, the sector supports around 1.5 million workers and contributes over KES 100 billion each year to the national economy. The study also revealed that 53 percent of gig workers depend on platform-based jobs as their main source of income, while 98 percent report a better standard of living highlighting the life-changing effects of digital platforms on livelihoods nationwide.
This rollout is just the beginning of Bolt Food’s broader retail ambitions, with plans to expand the category further and onboard additional partners, reinforcing its status as a go-to platform for everyday ease. The company also intends to keep investing in technology, local collaborations, and operational efficiency to strengthen its position within Kenya’s changing digital commerce landscape.
