Willy Paul Urges the Government to Take Action Against Harmful Online Content
Musician Willy Paul is urging the government and relevant authorities to take action against the spread of explicit content, nudity, and immoral behaviour across online platforms.
In a statement, the artist spoke about his concerns as both a public figure and a parent, warning that unchecked harmful content poses a serious threat to children, family values, and the moral fabric of Kenyan society.
“As a musician, public figure, and parent, I cannot stay silent while explicit content, nudity, and other immoral behaviour continue to spread across online platforms unchecked,” Willy Paul said. “I respectfully call upon the government and relevant authorities to take this issue seriously. The longer we remain silent, the more we risk losing our values and exposing our children to harmful influences.“
The musician added that freedom of expression should never come at the expense of decency, responsibility, and the well-being of the younger generation. He called for the creation of an environment where positive values are actively encouraged. “Freedom of expression should never come at the expense of decency, responsibility, and the wellbeing of our young generation,” he added. “We must create an environment where positive values are encouraged and harmful content is not normalised.”
Willy Paul also challenged his fellow public figures to examine their own roles in shaping the cultural landscape. “I also challenge fellow public figures to use their platforms responsibly. Influence comes with responsibility, and we should be setting positive examples for the next generation. Many may disagree with me, and that’s okay. But I will always stand for protecting our children, our families, and the moral fabric of our society,” he stated.
