TALENT MANAGER PETER KAWA SPEAKS ON HOW HE STARTED MANAGING AZZIAD NASENYA
Actor and talent manager, Peter Kawa has disclosed how he started managing social media star Azziad Nasenya.
Speaking in an interview with Buzz Central’s Cheptoek Boyo, Kawa said he met her when she had just finished high school, “We met in 2018, she had just left high school and she came to Nairobi. One of her high school teachers was like, ‘You know there’s a teacher who used to teach drama here. He has a theatre group in Nairobi, can I connect you to him?’ She was introduced to my friend Walter Sitati who I used to work with closely.
I met this beautiful, energetic and talented girl but clueless about the industry. By then I had just started my management company and I was trying to pick out people, I asked her if I could manage her. But she was not the only one, at that time we had Ben Teke, a boy called Ramsey, and Pauline Kyallo. They were in the same team and I came up with some contracts and told them I was doing talent management and I asked them to sign and when they’re called for work, I will negotiate on their behalf.”
On the secret to Azziad’s success, Peter said, “That girl is multi-talented, she is an actor, a radio presenter and a content creator. She is not just a dancer. She pushes herself, she knows what she wants. In fact, I call her my boss because she understands the industry and I just follow what she wants me to do. She is super ambitious.”
Kawa also manages other people, “I manage Nice Wanjeri and now am blessed enough to have other people on board, Minne Kariuki, Mellisa Kiplagat so yeah it’s growing slowly one day at a time.”
