TV PRESENTER ERIC NJOKA GETS CANDID ABOUT HIS DEPRESSION AND PTSD

By  |

Former K24 news anchor Eric Njoka has come out to share his struggle with depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In a video he posted online, Njoka said he has been battling the condition for a long time, “I’m going to talk about depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) because I suffer from it and I have been hiding from it God knows how long. I took a break from work recently to check on myself but I’ve been feeling a sense of loneliness and working and living miles away from home makes it even worse for me.”

Njoka who recently relocated to India after landing a job with Wion TV says he is facing racism, “Many of you have been asking why I don’t make friends. It’s because I don’t know how to make friends and I rarely keep friends as well. It has been awful watching in the community which looks at you and judges you just by your outlook, or the colour of your skin. But I’ve learned to live with that because it makes my skin harder and firm.

So making friends for me at this moment is out of the question and quitting is really not an option for me. After all these years of experience, some people still consider me a rookie. I’ve made amends with that. So stop judging people and get to know them. That smile that we always put up hides alot.”
