CNN’S LARRY MADOWO CALLS OUT AUSTRIAN BULLY AFTER EXPOSING SERIES OF HATE-FILLED EMAILS

CNN’s Africa correspondent Larry Madowo, has taken to social media to share a series of bizarre and acrimonious emails he has received from an Austrian critic, Augustin Rakobitsch. 

The emails, filled with personal attacks, have sparked widespread reactions online, with many rallying behind Madowo and condemning the harassment.

In one of the emails shared by Madowo, the Augustin rants, “How sickening. On and on and on. African Voices Change Makers. We don’t want to insult you, but you are giving us no other choice. You’re making us literally sick. We cannot stand you any longer. You are not smart enough, neither are you good looking. Why don’t you shut up forever? We are world travellers, and we have lived in 70 countries and six continents, but you’re turning us off forever. Coming to Africa. You don’t represent the beauty of Africa. You’re turning us off forever. We are starting to hate CNN because of you.”

A second email escalates the tone, stating, “What must we do? The next thing we can do, to intervene in your sponsorship with GLO. You’re making us sick with your African Voices Change Makers. How many times do you need to advertise for yourself throughout the day? You’re destroying CNN. And what kind of people are you bringing? We cannot stand it anymore. Nobody in the world needs your underdeveloped bullishit. We are educated people. Are supposed to undeveloped ourselves. What a people you? sickening,” said Rakobitsch.

Madowo, responded to the emails with humour, captioning his post, “‘Nobody wants or needs you.’ My Austrian bestie is losing it completely and is now emailing me weekly, in all caps .” He also shared a screenshot of multiple emails from the same sender.  Madowo’s African Voices Change Makers series, which highlights inspiring stories from across the continent.
