‘Asante Sana’ Raila Junior Thanks Ruto as Government Races to Complete Odinga Mausoleum

Raila Odinga Junior has thanked President William Ruto for the government’s support in building the mausoleum honouring his late father, former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.

In a message posted on X, Odinga Junior wrote: “Our Excellency @WilliamsRuto Asante sana kwa Kutusaidia Kujega Hiyo Mausolem ya Baba, Karibu sana.” 

Speaking during a media engagement at Kisumu State Lodge on September 14, 2026, the President said his government was working with Raila’s family to prepare for commemorative activities planned for October 2026.

President Ruto has directed that the Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, be completed by October 14, 2026, ahead of the first anniversary of the former Prime Minister’s death. “I already gave instructions on the building of the mausoleum in honour of the late prime minister and to also improve the mausoleum for Jaramogi,” Ruto said. “It’s my belief that it should be complete by 14th of next month so that we can hand it over to the family and to use it for remembrance of the late.“

The mausoleum project also includes improvements to the existing site honouring Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila’s father and Kenya’s first Vice President.
