JANET MBUGUA RAISES ALARM OVER MISSING CHILDREN IN KENYA

Media personality Janet Mbugua has raised an alarm over the escalating crisis of missing children in Kenya, urging citizens to take action when a child appears in distress.

Mbugua revealed that at least 24 children are reported missing every day across the country. “Upwards of 24 children reportedly go missing every day in Kenya, at least that we know of. What exactly is happening?” she posed.

She gave an example of the case of five-year-old Luther Mwangi, whose disappearance has captured public grief. However, she added that the crisis extends far beyond any single incident. “The story of five-year-old Luther Mwangi has broken many hearts,” she said. “But beyond one case, there is a growing fear around child safety, vulnerable families, overstretched systems, and how easily children can disappear into silence.

The media personality issued a call to every Kenyan citizen. “If you ever see a child who looks lost, unsafe, abandoned, or in distress, do not ignore it,” Mbugua urged. “Report it to the nearest police station, child protection office, or call Childline Kenya on 116, a free 24/7 national child helpline.”

She concluded with a stark warning against desensitisation. “We cannot afford to become numb to this.”
