‘WE DATED IN UNIVERSITY’ GLADYS BOSS SHOLLEI ON RELATIONSHIP WITH MZUNGU HUSBAND

By  |

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Gladys Boss Shollei recently opened up about her relationship with her Mzungu husband, sharing details of their relationship in a candid interview. She mentioned that she first dated him while studying at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

I had my first marriage many years ago, and we had four children together. That marriage ended and I had to move on,” Shollei said. “I’m now married to someone I always knew, someone I dated back when I was at University of Cape Town.”

Shollei went on to describe the unique aspects of her current marriage, including the various ceremonies they had to mark the occasion. “My friends Nelly and Milly, who I call my ‘Olivia Pope’ team, helped me organise everything. We had a traditional wedding in Kenya, a white wedding in Cape Town, and later a small celebration in Kenya for my cousins and relatives who couldn’t make it to Cape Town.

In discussing the balance between work and family, Shollei highlighted the resilience of African women. “African women are phenomenal, it didn’t start with me. Women have been balancing work and raising families for generations.”

When asked if there was anything she would do differently, she replied, “I would be more confident and less harsh on myself. I’ve always been my own toughest critic, expecting everything to be perfect and pushing myself to work incredibly hard. I’d give myself more credit and be more forgiving.”
