‘I SPENT SH200K ON MY DIVORCE’ ADELLE ONYANGO REVEALS
Celebrated Kenyan media personality and podcaster Adelle Onyango recently opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Falgun Bhojak, revealing the complexities of the legal system in Kenya.
Speaking openly, Onyango questioned the colonial roots of Kenyan marriage laws. “Let me say this with a caveat. I believe in love. I really believe in marriage,” Adelle stated. “Would I involve Sharia House again? No. I wish people knew how colonial our marriage laws are,” she continued.
Discussing her own divorce, Adelle talked about the financial implications of the process despite the absence of children, assets or business interests to split. “My legal fees for the divorce came to around Sh200,000. I didn’t have kids, assets, or businesses to split, I had an amazing team of lawyers, wonderful Kenyan women who are just the best, but that’s a considerable amount of money.”
On life after divorce, Onyango maintains an optimistic outlook on life, “I am content in this moment; I’m happy,” she affirmed.
