MP PETER SALASYA REFLECTS ON LIVING IN A SH1,200 CARDBOARD HOUSE
Mumias East MP member of Parliament Peter Salasya recently took to social media to share a personal story about his journey through hardship during his university days in Nakuru.
Salasya revealed that he lived in a modest house made of cardboard and iron sheets for three years while studying, located in an area called Bangladesh in Nakuru. “My house ya mbao na cardboards I stayed in for three good yrs in Nakuru is still available pale Bangladesh, though it’s now serving as a kitchen,” Salasya wrote.
He recounted paying Sh1,200 in rent per month, which was later increased to Sh1,500. Despite his financial struggles, Salasya expressed appreciation to his landlord, who never locked him out even during tough times. “The landlord was good hakuwa ananifungia mlango.”
Reflecting on his time at Egerton University, he shared that this was the main reason he never had a girlfriend during his campus years. “Maisha ni safari, but the most important thing is acceptance na maisha ya stove. No wonder I never had a girlfriend throughout my life in campus.”
