KENYAN YOUTUBER FARHANA OBERSON ANNOUNCES DIVORCE AFTER 5 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

Kenyan-Muslim content creator and influencer Farhana Oberson, has publicly announced her separation from her husband after five years of marriage. 

In an emotional video shared with her online community,  Farhana opened up about the difficult decision to end her marriage, she revealed that despite her best efforts to make the marriage work, she ultimately realised that she and her husband were not meant to be together.

“No one enters a marriage thinking that one day they’ll be separated,” she shared. “But sometimes, no matter how hard you try, things just don’t go the way you hope. Compatibility is everything. It’s better to admit that you walked through the wrong door rather than spend the rest of your life in the wrong room.”

Farhana spoke openly about the societal pressures Muslim women face when going through a divorce, “Although society tends to tell men and women that you should just be patient. You’re expecting too much. Our parents did it. Our grandparents did it but survival is not the goal anymore. Peace and joy is growth, we are not our parents. We are not our grandparents.”

The Youtuber also reflected on her personal growth over the past five years, having moved from Kenya to the UK to build a life with her then-husband. Though the marriage did not last, she is proud of how much she had accomplished launching a successful business, building a brand, and finding resilience in a foreign country.

“London didn’t just change me, it completely transformed me,” she shared. “I became a woman who walked through fire and still came out choosing softness.”

She concluded her video by thanking her supporters for their love and encouragement throughout her journey. She assured them that she is taking time to heal and rebuild, trusting in Allah’s plan for her future. “I have no regrets,” she said. “When you have Allah by your side, you’ll never truly regret your choices.”
