SENATOR HAMIDA KIBWANA DEFENDS MP PETER ORERO’S TRAFFIC VIOLATION
Senator Hamida Kibwana has come to the defense of Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero, following a viral clip of an incident where he was captured encouraging his driver to proceed driving on the wrong side of the road while using foul language against other road users.
Her comments come after Police confirmed plans to search for the MP’s driver. The incident was recorded by CNN correspondent Larry Madowo. Senator Kibwana stated that Kenyans don’t understand how demanding political life can be. She explained that from constituency duties to assembly sessions and committee work, the constant pressure takes a toll on mental health. “That’s why my Mental Health Bill seeks to establish a desk to support leaders’ wellness,” Senator Kibwana said.
The senator’s comments comes after Madowo shared the the viral clip, “Peleka kwa Ruto, takataka! Come get your uncles please, they’re misbehaving on the road. That appears to be a Kenyan lawmaker Kibra MP Peter Orero who’s a former high school administrator. Odd how @ntsa_kenya has taken no action about a lawmaker endangering road users’ lives but would be all over this if it was a matatu driver.”
Madowo added, “He has not addressed the incident or even apologized but you are ready to “move on” because you don’t hold your leaders accountable. You’re part of their praise and worship team.”
