Lang’ata MP Phelix ‘Jalang’o’ Odiwuor, has responded to comedian and activist Eric Omondi’s political ambitions, urging him to consider a parliamentary run in Embakasi East instead of Lang’ata.

The MP’s comments comes after a recent opinion poll and amidst growing political discussions in the constituency. In a statement, Jalang’o  said, “When people have confidence in what you do!! I thank the people of Lang’ata for trusting me with this job! Siasa kidogo kazi kwa wingi!!!” he stated.

Directly addressing Omondi, Jalang’o added, “Eric niwachie hii mbogi yako uende Embakasii East. Babu anaenda Governor, nipigie tuongee!!”

Jalang’o’s confidence comes from a new poll conducted by Mizani Africa that puts him far ahead. The poll results indicate broad voter confidence in his leadership, with 55.3% of respondents supporting him. This places him significantly ahead of competitors, including Abass Khaliff at 8.5% and Erick Omondi at 5.3%.

According to the Mizani Africa analysis, the poll “reflects broad voter confidence in his leadership.” It attributes Jalang’o’s strong showing to his “visible record in infrastructure improvement, youth empowerment, and social programs,” which “continues to resonate” with constituents. The poll further notes that his “accessibility and energetic style of representation have redefined engagement in Lang’ata.”

With 28.8% of voters still undecided, the analysis concludes that the constituency is “leaning decisively toward performance-based continuity.”
