LYDIA WANJIRU SAYS SHE HAS NO DESIRE TO GET MARRIED OR HAVE CHILDREN

Digital creator Lydia Wanjiru has revealed her decision to remain both child-free and single.

Wanjiru revealed that 2025 was the year for her to reach final decisions on these major life questions. “2025 was the year I was going to make up my mind whether I want children or I want to be child free. The other elephant in the room was 2025 was also the year I was going to make up my mind whether I want to get married or not,” she stated.

After reflection, she has chosen her path. “I have come to the decision that I don’t want to get married. Ever,” she declared. She clarified that her choice is not a rejection of love or connection. “Do I want to date? Yes, I want companionship. I want to find love. I want to just have someone that I can share my life with and whose life I can share.”

However, she rejected conventional partnership. “Paper thing, officialising things, living together Monday to Monday, January to December. It’s not my thing… I have come to a place where I realised I’m not amongst those kind of people who want to live with people 24/7 all their life.” She added, “I want a companion, but someone who is also busy, someone who has their own place, and we meet whatever we plan.”

Wanjiru also announced, “I’m officially child free. I don’t want biological children. I am happy to be a rich auntie.” She linked this decision to personal experiences, noting, “It’s one of the reasons why I had my cosmetic surgeries.” A life changing moment came in July of last year, witnessing the distress ofparents while her ex-partner was hospitalised. “I saw how some of the mothers who had their children sick and admitted were sad and hurting,” she shared, an experience that solidified her decision.

“This is just an official declaration video, and it’s not to shame anyone who wants to be a mother, who wants to get married. Everyone has their own reasons. Everyone has their own life to live. If being a mom is all you want, go for it. If being married is all you want, go for it.“
