MOHAMMED ALI DENIES RUNNING FOR MOMBASA GOVERNOR SEAT UNDER DCP
Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has clarified his political standing, denying reports that he has joined the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) or been unveiled as its candidate for the Mombasa governorship.
The MP, popularly known as “Moha Jicho Pevu,” responded to recent media reports suggesting that DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua had formally endorsed him as the party’s flagbearer for the Mombasa gubernatorial race in the 2027 General Election.
In a response to journalist Stephen Letoo, who had posted on social media that Gachagua had unveiled Ali as the DCP candidate for Mombasa Governor, the Nyali MP set the record straight. “Stephen Letoo, kuja tu kwa siasa badala ya kujificha kwa propaganda ya serikali ukiahidiwa certificate ya MP. Ama ukuje unihoji kama utapewa mic na camera nikuambie ukweli wa mambo. Ur a journalist but of late you have been behaving like a quack,” Ali stated.
He further said, “Rigathi Gachagua amesema he is supporting my candidature. Ni nini huelewi?” Adding, “Rumours may travel fast, but truth stands steady. Here is where I stand. To the affordable journalist Stephen Letoo, this is me speaking.”
The speculation began when Ali posted photos alongside Gachagua with the caption, “When young leaders unite, they don’t attack with anger — they advance from every corner with vision, courage, and one unstoppable voice. Ngoma imeanza!”
The confusion deepened after Ali attended a church service at PCEA Zimmerman in Roysambu Constituency, Nairobi, where Gachagua introduced him to congregants, stating, “Huyu kijana anaitwa Mohamed Ali, AKA Moha, AKA Jicho Pevu. Huyu ni mjumbe wa Nyali for the second time, na yeye ndio candidate wangu wa kiti cha gavana katika Mombasa County”
